SLOUGH TOWN sent out a message to their league rivals with an impressive 4-0 win away at Redditch United on Saturday.

The Rebels had been beaten 1-0 and 4-0 at Redditch in the two previous seasons but, clearly unfazed and full of confidence, they emerged as comfortable winners at The Valley.

Slough joint-boss, Jon Underwood, told the Midweek Observer before the win on Saturday: "We've got a really focused group of lads and nothing is fazing them at the minute, which is brilliant.

"They're taking it all in their stride so there is no danger of losing focus. They are all really enjoying their football.

"They're all really together and once you get to where we are in the league you don't want to let it go, so there's no chance of any kind of complacency sneaking in.

"Everyone is really geared up for a good season and the changing room is a good place to be at the minute."

Slough took the lead on seven minutes when Warren Harris struck the ball into the corner from the edge of the box.

Lee Barney doubled the advantage with a goal in the 33rd minute. The striker made the most on an under-hit backpass to nip in past keeper Bradley Catlow and walk the ball into an empty net.

Harris scored his second and Rebels' third two minutes from the final whistle to secure all three points. The midfielder slotted the ball under Catlow from just inside the box.

Gavin James added a fourth goal deep into time added on, cutting inside on his left foot and curling the ball into the far corner.

The win keeps Slough in second place in the Southern Premier Division table and just a point behind unbeaten leaders, Chippenham.

The Rebels make the trip down to Weymouth on Tuesday (7.45pm), where Underwood expects to learn more about his side.

He said: “It’s a fixture we have not done great in and their place. Over the last two years we’ve lost twice.

“But, we feel we’ve progressed and that we’re demonstrating that, so there’s no better way to show it than going there and doing well.

“I’m looking forward to it.”
