The killer of 19-year-old Temur Qureshi followed the victim on a motorised scooter before fatally stabbing him.

A 17-year-old - who cannot be named for legal reasons - is standing trial at Reading Crown Court, accused of killing Mr Qureshi in a targeted attack.

He denies murder, but has accepted an alternative charge of manslaughter in connection with the incident.

The victim was stabbed in the Langley area of Slough on September 30 last year.

He was found injured in Hampden Road.

Jurors have heard a harrowing recording of a 999 call made by Mr Qureshi after he was stabbed.

The victim tells the call handler: "I've been stabbed. I'm going to die."

Prosecuting barrister Sasha Wass KC said: "He [the victim] was calling from Hampden Road, Langley, in Slough, which is a residential area, surrounded by grass and trees.

"During the course of the 999 call, several of the residents and passers-by went to Mr Qureshi's aid.

"Emergency services attended the scene, and tried to save Mr Qureshi's life."

He was pronounced dead within an hour of the 999 call.

Extensive CCTV evidence has been produced, tracking the movements of Mr Qureshi and the person who stabbed him before and after the incident.

In the footage, this individual - who the prosecution claim is the youth currently on trial - is seen following the victim on a motorised scooter.

Mr Qureshi, who was initially riding a bicycle, tries to escape from his attacker on foot.

The killer wields what appears to be a large blade - identified as a hunting knife by the prosecution.

After stabbing Mr Qureshi, the assailant gets back on his scooter and speeds away.

Mrs Wass KC said that this scooter was subsequently found abandoned at the home of the 17-year-old defendant.

He was personally known to Mr Qureshi, who named him as the attacker to a witness just before he died.

The defendant left Slough shortly after the stabbing, and was subsequently arrested in Birmingham.

The trial continues.
