"I HOPE that you find joy, peace and happiness and achieve all your objectives for the month."
That is the message from Slough's mayor to the Muslim community who are observing Ramadan over upcoming weeks.
Councillor Amjad Abbasi has been expressing his support as thousands of residents across Slough are fasting from March 10 until April 9.
In a message shared online, the town's mayor said: "Ramadan Mubarak to our Muslim community. Best wishes to you and your families for the holy month of Ramadan.
"I hope that you find joy, peace and happiness and achieve all your objectives for the month."
The period of Ramadan marks one of the most important observances for the Muslim community every year.
It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and observed by Muslims worldwide.
Followers spend time fasting, praying and indulging in philanthropic activities by giving back to the community.
It lasts up to 30 days, from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next.
In Slough, an estimated 30 per cent of the population identifies as Muslim.
