A man has been held in custody ahead of sentencing after stealing £100 of meat from a boutique hotel.

Kevin Doran, 53 - resident at the Upton Hotel in Slough - entered the Christopher Hotel in Windsor as a trespasser on February 16.

He then made off with £100 worth of meat.

At Reading Magistrates' Court on February 16, Doran indicated a guilty plea.

Magistrates decided against granting the defendant bail - meaning he will be held in prison over the meat heist pending an appearance at Reading Crown Court.

Justifying the decision, magistrates highlighted the "nature and seriousness" of the offending, and his previous criminal history.

A sentencing date has yet to be fixed.
