THAMES Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a bank was robbed in Slough on Tuesday.

Two masked men, one carrying a sledge hammer and the other clutching a sword raided the NatWest bank in Buckingham Avenue.

They tried to unsuccessfully to smash a cashier’s screen. Then one of the men stole an amount of cash from a desk which was at the rear of the shop floor.

Both then left in a vehicle which had been waiting nearby.

Police have described the two robbers as less than six feet tall, and wearing dark clothing.

Det Sgt Pauline Cameron, from Berkshire Force CID, said said there were customers inside the bank at the time and they would like to hear from anyone who has not spoken to them.

She said: “Thankfully, no one was injured during this robbery which would have been frightening for those involved.

“We are also interested in hearing from anyone who saw the men either enter the bank or leave in a vehicle.

“Every piece of information, despite how small it may appear on the surface, could assist with our ongoing investigation.”
